The Lube Oil Temperature Monitor (LOTM) is designed to protect the crankshaft as well as other sliding metallic surfaces on marine diesel engines using early prediction of severe damages.
The protection principle is based on the detection of above-normal lubricating oil temperature caused by increased friction of engine moving parts (for example bearings or piston rings).
